Project 1: TREE OF LIFE: Downtown Merced Community Tile Mural(s)

The TREE OF LIFE Tile Mural is an art project which will be created by the Merced community .Every community member is invited to glaze a tile The suggested contribution for each person is $5 which covers the instruction, the cost of the tile, all glazing materials and tools, the subsequent firing as well as the final installation.The images depicted on each tile will be related to the idea of a TREE: things growing on a tree such as leaves of different shapes, blossoms, various kinds of fruit as well as animals using the tree as a home such as birds, insects, etc.
We, the Merced Ahead volunteer Downtown Merced Group, are still in the process of selecting and locating suitable wall spaces along Main Street, from N Street to Martin Luther King Jr Way. The participants will be able to cast their vote regarding the final three locations. Each participating community member will also have their picture taken (optional) to create a "Faces of Merced" collage.
